"Dear Ms. McVey:

Our daughter, Brittany was hospitalized on February 26-28, 2013 in the pediatric ward due to an illness. While hospitalized, I must commend on the whole that the entire staff was most helpful, accommodating and caring.

I also want to bring to your attention in particular to two individuals who exemplified the best in Meadowlands Hospital.

First, the admissions lady on the afternoon of February 26, 2013 who directed me to the emergency room and made the transition at the emergency room much smoother and quickly. I felt I was being escorted basically by the hand since I was so distraught at the time.

Second, Melissa, pediatric nurse. She is the most amazing, thorough, cheerful, caring, hardworking and supportive nurse that we have ever come across, and we were blessed to have our daughter under her care. At one point, we needed to leave our daughter alone for a couple of hours. Melissa was there to assist our daughter when she developed a crisis with her IV line and thereafter checked on her frequently to make sure that she was comfortable and doing well.

Finally, Dr. Aly is the best pediatric doctor, and the Meadowlands Hospital is so fortunate to have him on your staff.

Excellent staff and excellent hospital. We plan to use Meadowlands in the future.

"Dear Ms. McVey:

This letter is to inform you how grateful I am with the staff at MHMC. My 21-month old son, Ethan Roque, was there yesterday at the Same Day Procedure Unit to get ear tubes placed in. From the moment we entered the hospital we were greeted with a smile by the security officer which was very courteous and directed us where to go. As soon as we walked into the Same Day Procedure Unit, the nurses were wonderful. They treated my son as if he were a family member or their own child. The played "peek-a-boo" with him and made him laugh until we were ready to go to the OR. At one point, Ethan was getting cranky because he was hungry and wanted his milk but since he was going under for this procedure he couldn't have anything to eat or drink; a nurse made him a balloon out of a glove and put a smiley face on it. My son calmed down for a while and played with it. It was so amazing! The Anesthesiologist, Gregory B., was so nice and informative.

As soon as my son went into the OR, my husband and I went to get some coffee and a bite to eat at the cafeteria. Since the procedure was quick, an Aide came to get us at the cafeteria to inform us Ethan was already in the recovery room. Once we got there, I saw a nurse carrying my son to try to console him because he was crying. I was so grateful that this nurse was doing this. I didn’t know how to thank him for taking such good care of my son. Everyone at this point was all so great! They kept us well informed of everything that was going on and made sure we were comfortable.

Again, I would like to express how grateful I am to the whole staff that made my experience at MHMC so wonderful! I would definitely recommend this hospital to everyone. I have been to several doctors’ offices, clinics, and hospitals since my son has been born and we have never received such great service like we did here at MHMC."

"Dear Ms. McVey:

I wanted to write to you and say that is was a pleasure meeting you at the Brunch on Sunday. It is a comforting feeling to know someone in your position can be so open and available. I am not really sure if you remember me, but I was introduced to you by my sister.

I would also like to give a brief bio on me. I have been a panic attack/anxiety patient for over 20 years. Two years ago, 2 tumors were found in my abdomen and were removed at Meadowlands Hospital. Since inception, CAT scans were the way to determine if the tumors were growing back and thankfully they have not. The reason I mention it is that I would like to let you know that one of your employees makes the nerve wracking experience a lot less scary. Her name is Melanie Dross, CAT Scan supervisor. I don’t know how differently I would be able to take these tests so regularly. I have had over 11 since this all started and she was present for all but one. I automatically calm down when I walk in and see her.

I feel people like to complain when things go wrong so I thought I would write about an outstanding employee. She truly is a lovely and professional worker.

I wish you luck in your position at the hospital, which I am lucky and proud to have in my hometown.
