Our scores for CLEANLINESS inched up
“This is a story that I cannot wait to tell!” says Lynn McVey, Acting President and CEO.
Everyone knows how clean this place is. And everyone knows how hard our Housekeepers work. What you might not know is our scores for CLEANLINESS inched up, up, up and away until we were rated the cleanest hospital in Hudson County. I discovered we are so much cleaner than our closest competitors.
I figured what would it hurt to peak at all the Hudson County Hospitals? Look what I found out!
We rank miles higher than all the other Hudson County Hospitals, plus one Passaic County hospital.
Then one night I woke up with a thought. I wonder how clean we are compared to Hackensack Hospital and Valley Hospital. I couldn’t wait to check the website. Wow! Here’s what I found.
People may have a high opinion of Hackensack and Valley, but when it comes to facts, Meadowlands is MUCH cleaner.
And then another month went by and our scores kept creeping up. Again, I woke up with a thought. How would our beloved Meadowlands compare against the most prestigious hospitals in the US? So I found out.
Our Housekeepers have cleaned the stink out of this place! J Nobody, not even the most prestigious hospitals in our country can keep up with our Clean Machine Crew. We have the VERY BEST in the country!
And just for kicks, I had to keep looking. There are 5000 hospitals in this country. Could it be?
Yes, it could be! Because of this fine group of professionals, Meadowlands Hospital is ranked the cleanest hospital in the United States of America. Our Housekeepers did this for all of us! This is what keeps patient safe from infections. This is why someone would choose to be a patient here. This is what makes us proud as we walk into that sparkling lobby every day.
For the last two Saturdays, I had the pleasure of relaxing with them over a lunch of lobster and pina coladas. I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did. I told them if I’m lucky enough to work with a staff like them, I’m lucky enough.
Before I end, I have to share one last thing. One day when I arrived at 7am, I saw them kissing each other near the time clock. Immediately, I thought, “Yay! There’s going to be cake today.”
“Whose birthday is it?” I asked.
“Nobody’s” they looked at me oddly. I discovered that’s how they greet each other every morning. And, they kiss each other goodbye before they leave as well. Like I’ve said, this is a very special group of employees we have here. And, as if all this wasn’t enough, they also have the lowest Absenteeism in the entire hospital.
I have been in healthcare for 30 years. Not much impresses me anymore. I thought I’ve seen it all. But I’ve never seen a finer group than our Department of Environmental Services.
Below are the names of the finest Housekeepers in the country. Next time you see them in the hallway, or in the patient rooms, or in your office, or in the bathrooms, or in the lobby……. Please thank them. They deserve a huge helping of gratitude from all of us.
