Facility and Equipment
Facility
The Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center is conveniently located on the South shore of the scenic Hackensack River. Our facility is a 5-minute drive to the Meadowlands Sports & Entertainment Complex, which is also home to the New York Giants. Our sparkling waterfront setting, breath-taking views, and short distance from Manhattan (only 2 miles) makes MHMC the ultimate "Go-To" acute care medical facility in the Hudson-Bergen area.

But all this pales in comparison to what is going on inside. We promise you will notice this is not hospital "business as usual". Too many patients have gone out of their way to tell us how different we are. We love Meadowlands Hospital and it shows!
Upon arrival at MHMC, our friendly, knowledgeable staff will give you a warm welcome and make certain that the medical needs of each patient are top priority. While full modernizations are in the works at MHMC, we offer the latest technology in medical equipment as well as a highly experienced medical, surgical, nursing, and administrative staff. We provide the best healthcare experience for each patient.
At MHMC we are committed 100% to providing our patients with paramount healthcare. Not only are we dedicated to the internal needs of our patients, but we are renovating for your benefit as well. Our infrastructure has been undergoing extensive construction since day one of our transition, and while most of our departments have had "facelifts", we are still investing heavily into our physical appearance in order to serve you better. The most noticeable of our finished projects includes a new outpatient pharmacy and registration/admitting area located in the main lobby of MHMC.
Like a fine restaurant, 'a la carte' dining is available to satisfy the palate of each patient. We offer single room accommodations for your privacy that overlook the river and amazing views. It is very calming and therapeutic to patients who are enduring the healing process at Meadowlands Hospital. Each facet of the facility’s physical appearance is being enhanced as the hospital grows into the gem that is truly is.
We have recently invested in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, which aids our administrative staff in handling patient information more discreetly. It will improve the quality of patient safety as well. Our healthcare professionals will have access to decision support, including the latest medical text along with information on ground-breaking medical treatments. These evidence-based treatments are crucial in providing the best patient care and have been proven to have the best possible outcomes.
With our new medically-advanced facility, high-quality treatments, and patient-friendly staff, Meadowlands Hospital is continuously striving to provide our patients with the best overall healthcare experience possible. We are making preparations for patient volume to skyrocket upon the completion of all MHMC projects and renovations.

Equipment
Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center has budgeted more than $20 million to outfit a new Interventional Radiology Suite with the most modern imaging bi-plane system, and we are proud to introduce the purchase of a 1.2 Tesla Open MRI and plans for a state-of-the-art nuclear camera, a digital mammography system, as well as two mobile X-Ray units. readmore›
The state-of-the-art equipment will not only upgrade the current diagnostic imaging capabilities and quality, but will also enable the hospital to expand its clinical services. For example, the newly designed Interventional Radiology department will be located inside the existing operating suite. This will allow the hospital to perform arterial interventions, including diagnostic arteriography, cardiac cauterizations and angioplasty, as well as embolizations for acute bleeding, strokes symptomatic uterine fibroids, spinal compression fractures, venous stenoses or nephrostomy, nephroureteral tubes, biopsies, and joint injections all under image guidance. Meadowland hospital offers a full range of healthcare services including orthopedic, neurosurgery, cardiology, interventional radiology, podiatry, gastroenterology, pediatrics, seven operating rooms and a vast array of imaging and diagnostic.
Meadowlands Hospital, in partnership with MEGWorks LLC, is also proud to announce the acquisition of a MagnetoEncephaloGraphy machine (M.E.G. for short) and the opening of our Neuromagnetic Brain Imaging laboratory. MEG works by measuring the extremely small magnetic fields produced by working neurons in the brain, and allows for the localization of dynamic brain function as well as dysfunctional cortex, as seen in epilepsy patients. The hallmark of MEG’s technical advantage over other imaging modalities is its ability to provide superior localizing precision at extremely high scanning rates. This means that we can now image brain dynamics on the order of milliseconds (fractions of a second) allowing us to assess real-time brain activity. This is to say, we can keep up with the speed of brain and track neural events such as epileptic spikes. The Neuromagnetic Brain Imaging lab has now started clinical service for the pre-surgical evaluation of epilepsy and brain tumor patients. This 3+ million dollar investment represents the cutting edge in non-invasive functional neuro-diagnostics and makes MHMC one of only 20 clinical sites nationally providing this technology to patients. Applications of MEG in the neurological sciences and clinical research are widespread and include assessments of brain function in Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, and Post-traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD), as well as mild Traumatic Brain Injuries. Currently, the lab is in the process of initiating research programs seeking to expand the clinical application of MEG by tracking therapies for PTSD in veterans of war and to help diagnose the severity of sports related concussion. MEG is typically used in conjunction with other imaging modalities, most notably MRI. Together with the neuro-diagnostic suite purchased for the ‘open-MRI’, this equipment will make up the Meadowlands Hospital Functional Neuroimaging center where patients can obtain a full range of functional brain imaging diagnostics.
The neuroimaging facility complements nicely the neurodiagnostic and neuromodulation services within the department of Neuroscience and Cognitive Rehabilitation (NCR) for which new equipment and staff have been put in place. The NCR facility includes technology and qualified staff for performing electroencephalography (EEG) data acquisition, and quantitative (QEEG) and evoked (ERP) analysis. This equipment is supported by Mitsar software containing normative databases required for making clinical assessments and guiding therapy for cognitive disorders such as traumatic brain injury, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. QEEG reveals information about specific neurologic function that is not obtainable from standard EEG analysis. ERPs, a staple in clinical neurology, have more recently been reported as a tool for identifying various biomarkers of neurological disease. The NCR is also very excited to provide a new intervention called neuromodulation therapy, wherein patients learn to control their own brain rhythms in order improve dysfunctional brain patterns. Utilizing “Thought Technology’s” industry leading software and hardware, this cutting-edge therapy can be guided by QEEG and is applicable to a host of neurocognitive disorders.
